Getting Involved
Why Should I Get Involved?
There are many reasons to get involved during high school. And if you think there won’t be anything for you; you will be surprised to find a sport, activity, or club you might enjoy. You can find a list of what we offer here at La Cueva at the end of this explanation of Why You Should Get Involved!
High school is a very important time to get good grades, hang out with friends, and prepare yourself for the next chapter in your life. It is also a time where you really grow up and find out more about yourself and what you want for yourself.
- Friendships: Meeting new people and developing friendships is very important to your happiness as a teenager. Meeting people with the same interests as you can help support you and challenge you. Also, meeting different types of people will help you grow too!
- Build Strong Personal Skills: If you are shy, outgoing, or something in between, working together with others toward a common goal helps you to strengthen your communication, time-management, and leadership skills. It is especially important if you don’t have a clue about what you like or don’t like, and you have no idea what to do with your future. This is the time to find out! Getting involved in sports, clubs, and/or volunteering is crucial to your growth and finding out who you are. This helps to build a great resume for your future too!!
- College: Good grades are wonderful, but colleges want to see that you are involved as well. Colleges look for students who want to make a difference in their school or community. Colleges are looking for students who have leadership skills, great communication skills and know how to balance the many things they are involved in. This shows they know how to manage their time and keep up their grades. Not to mention how being involved can impact your opportunities for scholarships and everybody needs as much money for college as they can get!
