Financial Aid Information

Below is the PowerPoint presentation used for the Financial Aid Information night on September 23rd.

Mrs. Chandler is available to meet with any La Cueva students and parents who want help filling out the FAFSA. Remember, for the Class of 2020 the application opens up on October 1, 2019. Below are other resources that are helpful in the process. To schedule an appointment with Mrs. Chandler please call 505-823-2327 x33002 and talk to Mrs. Bash.

Financial Aid Information Night Presentation

  • Make sure you are going to the website and never pay money to submit the FAFSA which is FREE.
  • You will be using your 2018 taxes so make sure you have a copy of parent and student taxes (if applicable) and W-2s before you start the application. See the image below for other documents you may need.
  • Try to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible. Schools have priority deadlines and those are the dates they will start processing awards. Students who have their applications in by those dates, will be considered for the maximum amount of aid.

                                                                   FAFSA documents needed

Many students and parents ask which parents information should be included on the FAFSA. Below is a graphic that will help determine "Who is my parent".

Senior Meeting PowerPoint

Below is the PowerPoint that was used for our Senior Meetings in September 2019.

Senior Yearbook Pictures

Senior Pictures vs. Senior YEARBOOK pictures.   LCHS has a contract with Campos Photography for our Senior YEARBOOK pictures.  Which means all Seniors must take their yearbook picture with Campos.  They will provide the white shirt and black tie (for boys) and drape (for girls).  They will have sessions on campus on 9/16/19 for $10 or you can schedule a session at their studio. YOU MUST SIGN UP to attend either session.  These sessions fill up fast so please  go to click on "Schedule Senior Photos" and follow the instructions.  Again these are just the Senior Yearbook picture. Many parents want to have Senior Pictures done and you can do that through any organization you choose. In order to have your Senior appear in the Yearbook, you must have his/her photo taken by Campos Photography.

Communication Through

One of the primary ways we communicate with Seniors is through Parents and students can sign up to receive messages by following the instructions below.  We do not see your phone number or email address and the messages will be relevant to the senior year (college visits, application deadlines, presentation reminders, scholarship lists, etc.)

Important - if you are a Verizon Wireless customer, you have to download the app and turn on notifications to receive these important reminders. They are no longer allowing remind to send out text messages to their customers.

Simply text @lacueva20 to the number 81010

Don't have a mobile phone? Go to the Remind website on a desktop computer to sign up for email notifications.

Get Ready to Apply Presentation Information

I encourage all Juniors and their parents to attend my Get Ready to Apply presentation on Wednesday, February 27th.  I will go over all the steps you need to take between now and the beginning of senior year, including applying to college, finding scholarships, college requirements and more.

College Search Worksheet - use this to track everything you learn about each college you are interested in. The file is a Word document so you can delete and add information based on what you want to know.
