Credit Recovery

CREDIT RECOVERY OPTIONS

(Within Albuquerque Public Schools)

 

La Cueva High School:  Take the class during the academic school day.  Check with your counselor to see if there is space available and if it will work within student’s schedule and graduation requirements.  No cost.

 

APS eCademy:  Registration for eCademy High School class is during the first week of both semesters.  Students meet with their La Cueva counselor to approve classes.  Courses are offered at La Cueva campus in the computer lab during 5th, 6th, and 7th periods.  Courses are free during the school day.  Students can also take classes on-line outside of the school day, and the cost is 25.00.  (Checks can be written to La Cueva High School.)

Courses Offered:   Algebra I & II, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Applications, English 9, 10, 11, 12, Financial Literacy, Geology/Astronomy, Geometry, Health, NM History, Physics, Psychology, Pre-Calculus, Spanish I, II, III, U.S. and World History, Government, Economics, and P.E.

APS Summer School:  Information (dates, locations, course offering, and cost) is available in late April.  There are many courses offered and classes do fill quickly, so check our web-site and listen for announcements in the counseling department.  A half credit course will meet 5 days/week for 4 hours per day for three weeks.  Students much obtain pre-registration paperwork form their La Cueva counselor.  Information will be posted on the APS and LCHS web-sites. Cost is 250.00 per ½ credit.

 

APS Alternative Schools:  Alternative school settings may provide the flexibility students need to “catch-up” on credits.  Students remain at home school until they are officially accepted at the Alternative school (i.e. Freedom, Sierra, School on Wheels).  Students can graduate from an alternative school or stay a semester and return to their home school.  For more information, go to the APS web-site and look under alternative schools.  No cost.

 

Charter SchoolsStudents may attend charter schools full time, take summer school, evening or on-line classes.    You can go to the APS web-site and look up charter schools.  All base enrollment is based on the lottery system.  There is no cost to attend a charter school. 

 

CNM/UNM Dual Enrollment:  Classes may be taken at CNM or UNM for elective credit while in high school.  See counselor for Dual Enrollment process.  You can also find information at CollegeandCareerReadiness.weebly.com.  Tuition and books are free if approved for Dual Enrollment.
